Hi there. I have a polar heart rate monitor with chest strap and a wristwatch heart rate monitor. Both of these I have found inconvenient. The chest strap is inconvenient and the watch is not a constant heart rate-you have to push the button when you want to see it.
Although I just received it in the mail and have not used it yet, I recommend the Alpha performance heart rate watch. Although I do not know yet how it performs, I can tell you that it is the first EKG accurate wristwatch heart rate Monitor that provides a constant heart rate and does not require a chest strap. It is brand-new technology. It is approximately $200.
You can read all about it on their website http://www.mioglobal.com.
I was trying to videotape myself sitting and then standing heart rate, but it was too difficult to hold the video camera in one hand and trying to push the button on the wrist watch with the same hand. That is why I got the Mio Alpha. Now it will be easy to videotape my POTS and show it to the doctors. Plus, I found that even just pressing the button on the watch was utilizing my neck muscles and affecting my heart rate. Mio Alpha will solve all of these problems. Good luck in your search 🙂
