Getting Diamox — funny you should mention neuroophthalmologists. Most eye doctors (including therapeutic optometrists. ahem…) are comfortable with Diamox. We used to give it out in HUGE doses for “pseudotumor cerebri” (high intracranial pressure evident by looking at the optic nerve). The trick to know, is that we can have “IIHWOP”: idiopathic intracranial hypertension without papilledema, and that is something most doctors forget about! Most PCP’s are comfortable prescribing diamox to prevent altitude sickness. A week’s worth is PLENTY to know if you are responding well. Just watch the contraindications – sulpha allergies, aspirin, etc. Soooo, do you feel a trip to the mountains coming on? ha. 🙂 Diana

What others say

“Dr. Diana will always hold a very special place in my heart for her selfless devotion to helping everyone, not just the Ehlers-Danlos community. I hate to think what my life would be without her insight and guidance.”
