Can pots cause hypertension upon standing, my blood pressure and heart rate raise in standing, laying make my heart beat powerful and hypotension in sitting
Most of times hypotension except standing so how can I have both hypotension or hypotension in pots
Thanks
Yes, it can! It did for me… I was diagnosed as Hyperadrenergic POTS (high epinephrine when vertical) as the likely contributor. This contributed to some of the shaking, tremors and hyperadrenergic presentation at the time (I felt like I was on amphetamines all of the time). It kept me from fainting, however (my son was not so lucky in that department). Hyperadrenergic POTS is a beast, yet others often think it is “anxiety”. Been there?

well one of my doctors said it is hyperadrenergic pots because I have hypertension as we don’t have capacity to do standing norepinephrine test, but standing make me dizzy, rapid heart beat, tremors and most strange thing standing give me urge to urinate a while after standing not sitting
I have this too although I haven’t had blood catecholamine testing. I have checked my own BP at times when I am feeling most lightheaded and syncopal and it is actually highest at these times. I wonder if the high BP is happening to overcome raised intracranial pressure?
I too have raising blood pressure, the longer I stand – although I didn’t in the beginning, I had tachycardia instead (that’s when I was diagnosed with features of POTS). For now, this raising of blood pressure seems to be the way my body is coping with getting sufficient blood/oxygen to my brain, it seems to have replaced the tachycardia (fast heart beat).
