I have been diagnosed with EDS for a couple years, also confirmed with an skin biopsy showing abnormal collagen. I also have a history of chronic lyme.
A couple months ago I stated having a twitch in the corner of my left eyelid that would not go away. This has affected the whole upper eyelid at times and sometimes when blinking. Now the effect is felt though the corner of the eye extending down the lower lid as a type of strain. This is causing some pain to the eye and corner of the eye.
I saw an opthamologist and he could find nothing wrong other than dryness. He recommendeed either restasis or pharmaceutical grade fish oil. I opted for the oil and it has increased the moisture somewhat, and I notice some tearing at night or when I wake up. The pain and spasming has not changed though, and I am concerned that this could be an EDS problem. I am 57 and have not had significant problems with my eyes before.
Thansk for your thoughts on this!

    Hi Julia,
I’ve had these for years, though I have managed to reduce them somewhat. I’m not exactly sure which part of my diet or adaptations regime is responsible though. This is going to seem like a strange suggestion but, would you eat a banana every day for a week and see if it still persists ? (all other medical conditions permitting, that is!) It could be something as simple as electrolyte imbalance, so you’re best to try the simple treatment first.
    Regards

I get them from time to time too. I never really though much about it. I remember they were worse during pregnancy just like the rest of my muscle cramps. I just recently learned I had EDS. So before I would load with magnesium, water and electrolytes. I was the weird prego lady eating pickles and drinking dye free Gatorade by the gallons. B12 seems to help me also.

This is improving some for me now.
I have been taking the pharmaceutical strength fish oil recommended by the optimologist and it seems to have made some difference with the dryness, and the eye twitches. Theres still a problem with the muscle in the corner but now nearly as bad as before.
The oil compnay is “physician recommended Nutriceuticals”.
Thanks for all of your suggestions!
