    Hello All,
I have been growing these hard rocks under my skin for years .Some are small and some are as large a a quarter and raise up on my skin becoming super hard and red and ugly.I have some that remain under the skin and never raise up you can feel them under the skin like little BB’s and they hurt sometimes. No doctor has ever been able to tell me what they are or why they are growing in my body in this way.Do any of you understand what I am going through?

Hi lilredhood27, I think I do!!! Do you have EDS? We are prone to all kinds of lumps and bumps — even some that calcify, which may (or may not!) be what you’re dealing with. Many of us suffer with Dercum’s Disease (painful fat), and many get fatty lumps or “spherules” under our skin. Right now, I have two big lumps that are starting to calcify under my scalp (ewww!). Most of our lumps and bumps are harmless, if not unsightly. But to be sure, especially if the bump is red, your doctor can remove them and send them to a pathologist for evaluation. My mom just had TEN lumps removed from under her scalp. (ewww, AGAIN!). 😉

WW, I thought I was the only one .My doctors are stumped.I keep getting more and more of them and it is starting to effect what I want to wear as some of them are very ugly and large.I had one taken out when I was younger and it looks like a little gray rock.I have since grown many more and some are very painful to touch. Not all reach the surface of my skin and stay under the skin and are most painful.I am just thankful I haven’t grown any on my face.TThak you for the reply.:)

OH! “Little grey rock” — my daughter gets those on her back and arms. She had the doctor remove a few, and she removed a few on her own (like mother, like daughter). They were just below the surface, and easy to remove. It seemed that they were some sort of a calcification, but, like other things that are not currently KILLING US, we just let it go…Gotta pick your battles with this condition FOR SURE. 🙂

    Hi there!

Al and I have never mentioned this ‘weird’ lump he gets. I wonder if it is this?. This lump comes up in the same place on his thigh and about a day later it goes. It kinda looks like a benign cyst, and last time we managed to get to a dr to show them. Unfortunately it wasn’t his regular doctor. This guy said it was a cyst and not to worry about it. It feels hard and it kinda pulls the skin taut. Because it doesn’t really cause us any grief we haven’t taken it any further. But it’d be weird if it was all related!
When I first met Al we were talking weird symptoms and he told me about this fruity one. I only believed it when I saw it with my own eyes. What I don’t get is why it comes up and then goes down again?

These bumps are common with EDSers. I’m growing rocks in my head, aorta, and other inconvenient spots. I’m hoping Dr. D will keep working as quick as possible to figure this out. Subdermal rocks probably aren’t that harmful, but I’m thinking the ones in my aorta and head aren’t doing any good.
