Hello all…I seem to be posting quite a bit. Trying so hard to feel better. Okay. I am on Diamox. It helps. I cannot get my blood level above 21. I am sure the drug could help me alot more. I am drinking alkaline water. I am eating a MACS diet. I am on klonopin at night. Will taking the sodium bicarbonate 10 mg tablets that I bought on Dr. Diana’s website interact with my Klonopin? Remember…the klonopin is at night. Please help…I want this Diamox to work it’s magic without making silly mistakes.
    Thank you ahaead of time.

Hi Susan, Although I’m not aware of any problems with sodium bicarbonate and Klonopin, your questions reminds me of something important. If we are taking Diamox longer than a few weeks at a time, it is important to involve a nephrologist or urologist to help us avoid kidney stones (that specialist can also guide you about any contraindications). Although I put a lot of ideas in the book, having your urine and blood monitored is so important. Fingers crossed that you, like many of us, do not need Diamox long-term, but if you do, those specialists are an important part of our medical team.

    Dear Dr. Diana,
Firstly let me say that I am so thrilled to be coming to your PotsCare facility next week. I know it will help me tremendously. My doctor is pleased, also. I am doing better on the Diamox. I have not been tested for anything to do with kidney stones, though. I will bring this up when I am at PotsCare. I must say that NOTHING has made since for the last thirty, yes thirty years, of my suffering until I tried the H1 H2 blockers and the Diamox. Unbelievable. That is why I am traveling such a long way because I know that there is more help to be had.
    Thank you,
    Susan

Susan, We are all excited to meet you next week! I didn’t make the connection and didn’t realize you were one of the patients — that’s amazing! The power of the internet. 🙂 As you’ve experienced, it doesn’t look like most of us fit the typical model for POTS — much, too much has been missed in the past. Although we are not all alike, if we start to view our condition from a slightly different angle, it becomes clear that the traditional treatments may not be helpful, and can even be harmful in the long run. I’m so, so glad you saw our work and you were able to get some relief from Diamox. I remember well my response and that of my kids, and how SHOCKED the doctors were. Ditto antihistamines… I look forward into digging into your case and helping you with aspects that have perhaps been missed. Travel safely…

“Dr. Diana will always hold a very special place in my heart for her selfless devotion to helping everyone, not just the Ehlers-Danlos community. I hate to think what my life would be without her insight and guidance.”
