Does anybody have severe facial flushing, Excessive yawning, horrible insomnia, or is really sensative to light and sound?
My face gets really red and hot all the time. Even when Im just sitting doing nothing my face will turn beat red and get really hot to the touch. Its wierd because the rest of my body is usually cold when this happens. The excessive yawning is a big problem for me. I will go into fits where i will yawn 20 to 30 times back to back some times more. Usually the facial flushing gets really bad during the yawning fits. I even do it when im not tired. So i would like to know if anybody has a clue of why this is happening to me, if you are going through it, and maybe how to fix it. My insomnia is getting horribly bad. I have been up for literaly 2 days and 2 nights non stop no sleep! no matter how hard i try i just cant go to sleep… And as for the sensativity to light and sound! oh lord i cant walk outside without squinting my eyes so much i can barely see. and the sound ugh thats a new symptom. I cant stand noises right now they just sound like they are 10 times louader then they should be. Its miserable! I need help!! Wondering if mass cell disease could cause any of this? well If you have these symptoms or have any other symptoms you have questions about post below and i will try to help:)

I think the flushing very well could be from mast cell issues or allergy related events. Did you ever track if there is any pattern to the flushing? Do you take Zyrtec and Zantac or other antihistamines? Excessive yawning may be a lack of oxygen in the blood or a vasovagal reaction. Your other symptoms make it sound like bad dysautonomia/your nervous system is in overdrive. I am so sorry you are going through all this. I hope you feel better soon!

    Hi Hannah,
I agree. I’d just like to say that my sleep has improved greatly since I’ve been taking Cetirizine (Zyrtek). Not only am I sleeping longer but I’m actually dreaming, which I haven’t done for years! If you’re not on it, it’s certainly worth a try.

    Hi again,
The trouble with being sensitive to sudden noise is that it usually triggers an adrenaline reaction, which, if you live near a road, like I do, can impact on your sleep if a motorbike or noisy vehicle goes past in the still of the night – there you are, laid awake for half an hour or more, until your adrenaline surge (fight or flight reaction) disperses and your system relaxes again. Ear plugs can help reduce that risk.

I once ended up in A & E on a bonfire night because all of the sudden noise from the fireworks repeated minute after minute, hour after hour triggered real bad arrhythmia! I now just put on some music, or turn the TV up, so I’m getting sustained noise – which for me is not as problematic.

Hi ScaredSingleMamainMaryland, Thanks for your responce. Could you tell me why a mass cell issue would cause the flushing? I dont think its allergy related because I dont have many allergies. I notice it happens sometimes when i get over stimulated(to much sound and light). however i dont know sometimes its just completely random. I do not take Zantac or Zyrtec. The yawning is horrible sometimes i do it so much that i have to hold my jaw in place because it will start to pop out due to streaching it so many times and my EDS. I dont know why I would have a lack of oxygen in my blood? however last time i was in the ER they had to check my lungs because my oxygen levels would keep dropping below 94. They ended up putting oxygen on me and taking the moniter off me because it kept going off. What is a vasovagal reaction? My cardiologist is getting aggravated because i have so many problems and she cant figure out how to fix me lol. My insomnia is getting worse and worse. I dont even know how im functioning right now to tell you the truth 2 hours of sleep in 3 days.Ugh. I also have tons of stomach issues and have lost 25 pounds with out trying in the last 3-4 weeks! because i cant eat with out running to the bathroom or throwing up. my doctor even had to go up on my beta blockers because all these symptoms were causeing my dysautonomia/POTS to flare up and i was passing out on a daily bases. Ugh I hope i feel better soon and find something to help!
