I am 47, I know that arthritis is common in EDS but I believe I have Gout in a knuckle and a toe joint. Is gout also common in people with EDS? I have not gone in to get it checked yet but the symptome seem to match.
Thank you

Fascinating question! There is nothing in the literature about this, but I suspect more “pseudogout” in our population. Certainly, checking it out is in order, but for completeness, I would ask your doctors to rule out pseudogout, too. Are you taking magnesium? How’s your thyroid function? I’m sure they’ll check you out fully, but in today’s world of hurried medicine, sometimes we need to gently remind our doctors of other conditions to consider, too. Gently. 😉
The only good news is that some experiment and studies are moving to study arthritis stem cell cure. They believe stem cell in a future (not well discloused) it could help to fix this kind of problem.

“Dr. Diana will always hold a very special place in my heart for her selfless devotion to helping everyone, not just the Ehlers-Danlos community. I hate to think what my life would be without her insight and guidance.”
