ParticipantHello everybody,
I’m pretty new hear and just trying to take in all the info from the site and put all the pieces together. I’ve seen a lot of post about skin flushing and dermatographia, which I have mild symptoms of, but I’m wondering if any of you also have tiny red “fleck” looking spots and little red moles and/or white spots that look like reverse freckles on your skin as well. I’m getting more and more of the red flecks and moles all over my body but the doctors never seem to think much of it. I’m wondering if this is a part of the big picture or something inconsequential. I look forward to hearing back from some of you.
All the best,
Megha

ParticipantI have those as well. When I was a child my mother took me to the doctor about the “white freckles” and she was told that it was from a fungus. The doctor told her that I could use a special soap to get rid of them but that when I went back out in the sun, they would just reappear. I never tried the soap. The red spots, which are tiny and remind me of being poked with a red ink pen, were not numerous until more recently. Now I have them all over me but no one else really seems to notice them. I know nothing about either of the spots but I did want to let you know that you are not alone. I have been wondering if they were tied into everything else as well.

ParticipantI have those tiny red dots, and they too are more numerous lately. I recall researching them years ago. I believe (but I am not sure, so don’t quote me lol!) they are called petechia (or something like that) and may be caused by oxygen deprevation.

ParticipantThanks for the feedback. I’m noticing the small red flecks on my daughter now, too. I’ll just keep trying to find an answer and will post here if I learn anything else.
Thanks again.

ParticipantI have these too! Finally, I’ve found someone who has this AND it coincides with my declining health. I have some cherry angiomas (these I’ve had most of my life). These present like small red moles. They are raised and fade when pressed. I ALSO have the red dots like I’ve been poked with a red pen, these are about the size of a needle prick- very tiny and they do not fade.
I’ve been through a work-up (several times) by my hematologist. He is certain they are NOT petechia, but suggested I follow up with a dermatologist. Unrelated: He did suggest I increase my ferritin levels with iron supplements as this can cause anemia symptoms EVEN THOUGH my iron level is within range. Anyone else have this issue?
So, I went to a dermatologist. He confirmed some are cherry angiomas, but the red pin prick dots are from hormones. He said he typically only sees these in pregnant women (which I’m not/haven’t been). Interestingly enough, I do have a hormone imbalance. He didn’t have a solution and said they weren’t harmful (ok… but I don’t want red dots all over my body!!!).
I’ve had these dots for over a year now. They came on rapidly, and haven’t changed at all either. They are primarily only on my arms and upper body. I’ve also had an increase in brown moles over the last 3 years (which is when I really started feeling sick).

ParticipantI went to a dermatologist today for a skin check and to see what can be done about my keloid scars from gallbladder surgery a year ago. I asked her about the cherry moles, she said they’re normal and she can zap them off if I want, but insurance doesn’t pay for that. She didn’t even have a comment about the small pinprick dots. She injected the keloids with steroids and lasered them. (I hope they smooth out.) I guess I’m just stuck with polka-dotted skin. LOL Interesting, the local anesthetic they gave me didn’t work. I felt the laser, so they gave me more anesthetic but it still didn’t work. She did immediately say a mole on my left calf had to come off because that’s the most common place for women to get melanoma. I had no idea. I’ve had the mole for as long as I can remember though so I’m expecting the biopsy to be normal. The anesthetic worked great for that one. Weird.

ParticipantI did realize I have one white mole/freckle. I’m not sure when I got it but I’ve had it for several years at least. No clue what that could be. It doesn’t go away.

ParticipantI also have those tiny red dots that are about the size of the end of a needle. I can’t seem to find any doctor who is willing to look into it.

ParticipantI too have the dots, under my skin, they are not raised, like tiny bruises, mostly from my knees up, but only over my upper legs, as far as I know. They are red, sometimes purplish red and there’s loads of them, evenly dotted around, about the size of a dot from a ballpoint pen.
I didn’t know if they were caused by my support hose, which I wear 24/7 to help with the POTS. I have read that they can be a symptom of Vit C deficiency (interesting, as vitamin C is required to make collagen too, which us EDS’rs have problems with), so I have ‘upped’ my intake of vitamin C and they have subsided but not gone completely.

ParticipantI have the needle prick sized red dots, white freckles, cherry angiomas, and have seen an incrase since my illness took a turn for the worst. I have also noticed more typical moles and freckles since that time.

ParticipantI have red dots covering my thighs and some on lower legs. Has anyone looked at pics of ‘telangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans”? It’s a type of mastocytosis but not sure if that’s what any of us have.

The google pics of these look clumped and uneven, mine are lots of singular, separate dots, evenly spaced out and all the same size.

ParticipantIt can be a temporary rash but if continues to come and goes try to use Zinc and vitamins as well continue to follow your doctor reccomendation. It should go away little by little.
