    Hy everybody,
I`m a female from Germany with EDS (hypermobile-type).
I read in the Theory of Dr. Diana
    http://prettyill.com/downloads/Dr._Diana_Theory_rev_03-2011.pdf
    on Page 5 this sentence:
This may be why vasoconstrictors and abdominal binders ease symptoms for many EDS patients.

What kind of vasoconstrictors does Dr. Diana mean?
Later in this Theory she writes about Diamox. Is this the vasoconstrictor?

    Greetings from Germany

Hi EDSGermany, There are a lot of vasoconstrictors. Caffeine can help (if you are not too adrenergic), Licorice root is decent. I actually took Sudafed every day for about 3 years when I was first sick! Sudafed and the binder kept me functional for a long time.. I hope this helps! 😉

    Hi Dr. Diana,
first off all I thank you for the fast answer. We have a problem here in Germany, Sudafed is no more allowed to sell in Germany. We can only buy it in the US! So, the only product our pharmacist can find, is Sudafed 30mg nasal decongest 24 tab. and we can’t see, how many of them I have to take a day and at which time. For my CSF pressure I’m using right now, Sumatriptan 100mg and Vomex 50mg!I take from both of them 1-3 tab. a day, so that I can stand up without having headache, nausea, vomiting etc.. Should I also try Diamox and in which dose. Should I take Sudafed and Diamox together or one after the other?

    Greetings and thanks from Germany

Greetings from Texas. I am on of the weird EDSers that can’t use an abdominal binder because it makes me nauseous. My theory is that it puts pressure on my vagus nerve. I throw up more than anyone else I know. I have to cary barf bags with me. I, like the other EDSers in my family, rely on caffeine. I also use a strong cup of joe when I need to get my bowels to move. I have gastroparesis followed by diarrhea so it is a balance act. I also tend to salt load. It is not something I do on purpose, but it is something my body craves. I notice other family members do it as well. Our doctors are always surprised by how low our blood pressures are. I just recently was diagnosed with EDS and these things were just the adaptions that my family and I made with out knowing why. Recently I have noticed that caffeine does make me more anxious. I think I would try different things one at a time and see what works for you.

I have to say that, although I have promoted the use of abdominal binders, I personally cannot use one, as it seemed to stop normal progress altogether! So, although it may help with some circulatory issue, I don’t think it’s that kind to the bowel if you have issues.
